This is a wonderful area for walking holidays in Spain, guided walking holidays allow you to see breathtaking views without having to find them for yourself. Self-guided walking holidays give you the freedom to explore at your own pace. The Vall d'Albaida  has a variety of scenery that is sure to suit everyone.

 

Example walks

Village circuit
A gentle walk to warm up and to see something of the local area. Duration is an hour to an hour and a half, mostly on roads, tracks and pathways, crossing streams. Passing through orange and olive groves and the neighbouring village of Ayelo De Rugat. Mostly gentle gradients with a couple of steep hills. Grade 1.

Mountain refuge
A steady to steep ascent along stony tracks zig-zagging up to about 500 metres. The refuge at the top provides an ideal stop for a packed lunch. Stunning views along the valley and to the sea. There and back 3 hours, or, there and on to Terrateig and back about 4 hours. Grade 2.

Valley and castle
An energetic scramble following the course of a stream via fonts, rockpools and waterfalls to about 500 metres. A fairly level traverse to a Moorish ruined castle. Packed lunch with breathtaking views of the Vall d'Albaida. A scramble descent crossing streams by stepping stones and a track walk back to Montichelvo. Grade 3.
